Coast Before the Country
Four days at Elsewhere, a cluster of old Portuguese colonial cottages on a private beach at the northern edge of Goa, in March 2014 — a small heaven I reached only through work, and staff kinder than any I had met. A whale skeleton bleaching on the sand at Pernem, low water, long light. I came to film; I went home wanting the rest of the country, and seven months later I was in Delhi. Grateful.
