Kenya
Tsavo, on Film
Kenya, September 2004, on 35mm — the last of my film years. Red-dust elephants at the waterhole, a lioness low in the bleached grass, giraffes against the thorn trees of Tsavo East, a baboon with her young. Scanned from the negatives two decades later, grain and faded colour intact. The trip that ended in a stolen camera bag — and pushed me, at last, to digital.
Sun-faded film: dust gold, dry grass, low grain.
